Madhusudhanan, who was the party's presidium chairman since Jayalalithaa days, sided with Panneerselvam after the party faced a split post her death. After the OPS and EPS factions merged, the Election Commission recently accorded Two Leaves symbol to the combined factions of the AIADMK led by Madhusudhanan.
It was followed by the RK Nagar by-poll, in which Madhusudhanan lost to rebel leader T T V Dhinakaran by a huge margin of 40,000 votes. After maintaining silence for more than two weeks, Madhusudhanan has recently penned a letter to Panneerselvam and Palaniswami, blaming a senior minister and some party functionaries for his loss.
He has questioned why no action has been taken against any party functionary so far for the AIADMK's defeat in the by-poll, whereas the arch-rival DMK has taken strict action against those behind its candidate's defeat in the by-election.
