The following are excerpts from the Stow police log from Monday, Jan. 1, to Sunday, Jan. 7. The log is public record and available for review. All persons are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
Monday, Jan. 1
1:25 a.m.: A caller on Boxboro Road expressed concern about a party with a bag in hand walking down the street. Police transported the individual, who was making his way to Clinton, to Bolton.
1:23 p.m.: A swan was reported in the middle of the road at the White Pond Road bridge. Animal control was notified.
Tuesday, Jan. 2
7:19 a.m.: A caller requesting an officer sit in an unmarked vehicle in another jurisdiction to arrest his son. The party was advised that Stow police can’t just go to another town and sit and wait for someone. The party was advised to contact the agency that his son will be working at.
Wednesday, Jan. 3
1:01 a.m.: A caller reported hearing loud bangs from the apartment below her at the Plantation Apartments on Johnston Way. All parties checked OK. Maintenance was contacted to check the boiler closet where the noise was coming from.
2:19 p.m.: A caller on Old Bolton Road asked to speak with animal control about a cat left alone in a cold house.
Thursday, Jan. 4
9:28 a.m.: Animal control on Old Bolton Road requested assistance with an issue involving an animal care company taking custody of a domestic cat from a residence.
5:57 p.m.: A black Lab was reported running around in the road on Johnston Way. The area search was negative.
Friday, Jan. 5
11:49 a.m.: A Maguire Lane resident reported her neighbor’s dog was barking outside for most of the morning and had been howling for a couple of hours. Police located the owner, who said the dogs were out but not all morning.
1:47 p.m.: Parties in the station reported larceny of over $4,900 from a bank account by a relative.
Saturday, Jan. 6
9:35 a.m.: A caller reported being harassed by a former renter who now lives in Stow somewhere. The caller was referred to his hometown to report the harassment allegations.
11:58 a.m.: A motor vehicle accident was reported at Kingland Road and Woodland Way.
12:19 p.m.: A walk-in reported he was in a three-car accident on Pompositticut Street. No injuries were reported, and all parties involved exchanged paperwork.
4:43 p.m.: Police checked on a suspicious vehicle reported in the Captain Sargent Farm Conservation Area on South Acton Road. All parties were sent on their way.
5:43 p.m.: A pickup truck was reported parked in the middle of the road on Taylor Road. Contact was made with the owner to move it.
6:40 p.m.: A large bag or tarp was reported in the road at Pompositticut Street and Great Road. The area search was negative.
7:27 p.m.: A Robert Road resident reported hearing someone walk into the apartment attached to her home and say, “I have the wrong address,” before walking out. The tenant was home and reported the same to the caller. Police located the individual at an adjacent residence; he had the wrong address of his poker game.
Sunday, Jan. 7
9:03 a.m.: A caller on Warren Road reported her vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was located in a spot where the caller forgot she had moved her vehicle for snow removal.
10:13 a.m.: A person was reported walking on Hudson Road with no shirt on and carrying a backpack. The area search was negative.
12:16 p.m.: A boxer with a leash and electric collar was reported running around on Forest Avenue. The area search was negative.
12:35 p.m.: A caller reported a fox jumped up from the snowbank and was on the roof of the library on Crescent Street, near the air-conditioning units. The area search was negative.
