Myles Tate scored 19 of his game-high 21 points in the first three quarters Friday night to lead Dorman to a 66-50 win over Boiling Springs. Tate nearly literally and figuratively stole the show for the Cavaliers, as he also had seven steals, seven rebounds and three assists.
Trey Downing added 14 points for Class 5A top-ranked Dorman (14-3, 2-0 Region II). The Cavaliers piled up the rebounds and loose balls to take a 18-point lead at the half and a 56-33 edge after three quarters.

GIRLS — Dorman 48, Boiling Springs 40: Alexis Rice had a game-high 22 points and three steals to help the Dorman girls rally past Boiling Springs.
Rice, Grayce Black and Alex Washington hit big 3-pointers in the fourth period to help the Cavaliers outscore the Bulldogs 16-4 down the stretch.
“We were getting outrebounded throughout the game. We were just watching instead of reacting,” Dorman coach Valorie Whiteside said. “We struggled today, but we came alive when needed.”
Dorman trailed 36-32 with Rice drained a 3-pointer. Black’s 3-pointer tied the game at 38. Washington’s 3-pointer gave Dorman a 41-40 lead with 2:04 left to play and began a 10-0 game-ending run. After Washington’s 3-pointer, Black hit a pair of free throws before Washington came up with a big steal to help seal the win.
“Alex Washington made some huge plays and Grayce Black did also,” Whiteside said. “She may have struggled throughout the game, but when it came to win with the game on the line, she knocked down a big 3.”
Washington finished with nine points, while Tamia Bradley had 9 points and 11 rebounds. Black had six points, eight rebounds and five assists also for the Cavaliers.
Dorman survived a sensational effort by Boiling Springs’ point guard Arissa Edwards, who finished with 19 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Amaya Richardson scored nine points also for the Bulldogs.
