Palliative Care Day programmes in Kozhikode from January 14

It aims at raising funds for patients’ welfare

Students of 20 colleges in Kozhikode district will participate in the two-day Palliative Care Day programmes here from January 14, aimed at spreading the message of palliative care and raising funds for patients.

According to K.P. Chandralekha, secretary, Pain and Palliative Care Society, Government Medical College, Kozhikode, it will start with cultural programmes on the Kozhikode beach at 3 p.m. on January 14. Flash mob, mime show, Chakyar Koothu, and music programmes will be staged.

Food festival

‘Eat for compassion’, a food festival showcasing delicacies prepared by students, will be also held.

The money collected from the food festival will be utilised for the activities of the Institute of Palliative Medicine. Umbrellas and handicrafts made by members of the Footprints Rehabilitation Centre will be put up for sale. A charity sale counter titled ‘Shop compassion’ too will be arranged where coffee mugs and jute bags will be on sale. The money collected from the sale too will be utilised for palliative care.

A banner exhibition titled ‘Stick a note’, will be arranged where any visitor can give suggestions on how to help bed-ridden patients. The flash mob will be staged at S.M. Street at 3.30 p.m. on January 15. A painting exhibition and sale too will be held between 3.30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
