Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cleared the extension to the Metro 4A route from Kasarwadvali to Gaimukh at the 144th meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority (MMRDA) on Friday. The extended route is expected to benefit 1.5 lakh passengers.
An official from the Chief Minister’s office said, “The total passenger count for the route will now go up to 8.7 lakh. The CM has also directed completion of the transport hub and logistics park in Bhiwandi.”
The 4A route is an extension of the 32-kilometre-long Wadala-Ghatkopar-Mulund-Thane-Kasarwadvali Metro. The additional length of 2.7 kilometres is expected to cost the State exchequer ₹ 949 crore. Two more stations, Gowniwada and Gaimukh, have been added.
