New Hanover 74, Ashley 54
Ramello Williams put in 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to keep the Wildcats unbeaten in the Mideastern Conference.
New Hanover improved to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in league play.
Sophomores Jaheim Marshall (11 points) and Mikai Stanley (10) led the the Screaming Eagles (4-11, 4-2).
Topsail 57, West Brunswick 55
The Pirates' Jamison Long hit the game winner from 3-point range with 1.5 seconds left to stun the host Trojans.
Caleb Bloodworth had 14 points and Jacob Floyd 12 for Topsail (4-11, 2-4 Mideastern Conference). Jarris Long followed with nine points and Brandon Lofton eight.
West Brunswick dropped to 8-8 overall and 1-5 in the MEC.
South Brunswick 74, North Brunswick 55
Four Cougars reached double figures, led by 20 from senior Kareem Randolph in a 19-point victory.
Jace McKenney added 14 points, John Roghela finished with 13 and Xavier Williams 11 for South Brunswick (10-5, 3-3 Mideastern), which built a 22-12 lead after the opening quarter.
North Brunswick (3-10, 0-5) got 12 points from Trevon Faison and Travis Lowe.
Cape Fear Academy 63, Harrells 54
A 21-point effort from Emmanuel Bonsu and 15 by Ivan Misic ensured the Hurricanes would earn a victory.
Next for Cape Fear Academy (11-8, 2-1 NCISAA Coastal Rivers) is a home game against Fayetteville Academy.
Wilmington Christian Academy 53, Thomas Academy 31
Conley Burk had a game high 22 points and Jordan Holloway added 12 in the win to help the Patriots improved to 6-9.
Trask 69, SW Onslow 53
The Titans broke open a tie game after three quarters to earn the Coastal 8 Conference victory.
Jujuan Carr put in a game-high 25 points, while Jaylin Mashack added 17. Tiyaun Ballard scored eight and Jakell Newton added seven as Trask improved to 14-1 and 5-0 in the league.
East Columbus 59, Whiteville 56
Whiteville (7-8, 6-4 Three Rivers) was led by Bradley Pridgen with 14 in a three-point setback.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
New Hanover 70, Ashley 21
Azariah Fields finished with 21 points and 11 assists in the Mideastern Conference victory.
A 28-6 second quarter set the tone as the Wildcats improved to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the MEC. Michelle Jacobs scored 12 points while Essence Newkirk added 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Montaisha Sutton stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and seven steals.
Ashley dropped to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in league play.
West Brunswick 57, Topsail 40
Breanna Mercer scored 18 of her 24 points in the first half of the Trojans' win.
Natyra Gore added 11 points to lift West Brunswick (9-6, 2-3 Mideastern), who outscored Topsail 15-5 in the second quarter. Dyna Jefferies posted nine points.
Topsail (11-4, 2-3) was led by Dashaniq Sidbury with nine points. Julia Sullivan scored six of her eight in the first quarter, helping the Pirates build a one-point advantage until West Brunswick's run.
Coastal Christian 36, Epiphany School 29
A breakout game from Brooke Barton and a 20-rebound effort from Carson Fuller guided the Centurions.
Barton finished with 10 points and six steals. Kristina Quigley put in 12 points and dished out two assists.
Coastal Christian (7-8, 0-3 NCISAA Coastal Rivers) plays at Harrells Christian on Tuesday.
Cape Fear Academy 44, Harrells 17
Chloe Kernan outscored Harrells by herself with five 3-pointers and a game-high 29 points.
Alexa Borstad finished with eight as the Hurricanes improved to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the NCISAA Coastal Rivers Conference.
Wilmington Christian Academy 74, Thomas Academy 11
On the strength of a 27-0 opening quarter, Wilmington Christian upped its record above .500 on Friday.
Four players posted 10 or more points: Caroline Leggett (16 points, five assists), Hannah Iovanna (12 points, nine rebounds), Sydney Davenport (12 points, eight rebounds, eight steals), and Kyra Rickard (10 points, 10 rebounds).
The Patriots (7-6, 4-1 NCCSA AA District 4) next plays at Hilltop Christian.
SW Onslow 34, Trask 32
The Titans dropped a Coastal 8 Conference game at home.
Trask (5-9, 2-3 Coastal 8) was led by Anisa Lewis' 11 points and seven rebounds. Leanna Pfeiffer and NyKia James each posted 5 points.
East Bladen 67, South Columbus 36
The Eagles remained tied atop the Three Rivers Conference.
Erica McKoy had a team-high 18 points, followed by JaTyra Moore-Peterson (16 points), Shardajah Brown (12) and Patience Ward (10). Ward also tallied 11 rebounds.
East Bladen (13-1, 8-1 Three Rivers), who upped its winning streak to nine games, is at West Bladen on Tuesday.
Other scores: North Brunswick 43, South Brunswick 35; Whiteville 45, East Columbus 41; Wallace-Rose Hill 51, Clinton 43; Croatan 50, Pender 38
