EUDORA — Ottawa struggled in the second quarter and lost its league game Friday at Eudora High School, 40-30.
The Lady Cyclones were outscored 19-4 in the second quarter after trailing by only one in the first eight minutes of play. The 26-10 halftime deficit was too much to overcome in the second half.
“We had no intensity on our defense,” Jamie Porter, OHS head girls basketball coach, said. “We have to make sure the girls are where they need to be. We are trying some new things. We aren’t pressing the whole time, we are taking the press off and picking up just one person. We are trying new offenses, so there is a lot for them to adjust to.”
Ottawa was without freshman Riley Titus, who injured her knee late in Tuesday’s contest at Baldwin.
The Lady Cyclones will play in the first round of the 18th Annual Bobcat Invitational 3 p.m. Tuesday against Benton at Basehor-Linwood High School. The tournament runs through Saturday.
