Local bus driver accused of making a bomb threat

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- Parents in Merrill are upset after minimal actions were taken against a bus driver who reportedly made a bomb threat while driving a bus full of young students.

The driver was suspended for two days while police investigated, and then assigned to a different bus route. The bus company and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident but both say that his words were meant as a joke and that the situation is being misinterpreted.

Peterson bus company works with Maple Grove Elementary School. The bus charters students from kindergarten through 8th grade.

When students came off the bus last week and told their parents what had been said. Immediately parents expressed concern to maple grove's principal.

Students of all ages say the driver made the bomb threat over the intercom.

The driver was suspended for two days and then assigned to a different route, and parents are upset that he wasn't fired.

Investigations found that the story was blown up and he made no intentional threat, but parents say they're not so sure that's all this was.
