A 17-year-old boy was asleep in his room when a 40-year-old friend of his mother's climbed into his bed, Springfield police say.

The boy allegedly said he woke up to find Breanna Cane "straddling" his midsection, kissing his neck and biting his ear.

According to court documents, the teen said he pushed Cane off of him, noting the woman has always been "obsessed" with him.

The incident on May 18 is described in a probable cause statement used to charge Cane with burglary and misdemeanor sexual abuse.

The statement said this wasn't the first incident involving Cane and the teen.

According to the statement, two years before — when the boy was 15 years old — Cane was at his house and became intoxicated.

Cane allegedly took off her shirt and began to dance and "grind" on the boy.

The statement said the boy's mother had to pull Cane away from her son and the two almost got into a fight.

For the next two years, Cane continued to be "flirty" with her son, the mother told police, according to the statement.

At one point, Cane said she would be together with the boy when he turned 18, the statement said.

The statement said that on May 17, the boy arrived home to find Cane inside, on his mother's bed and acting strangely.

The mother — who was at work — sent several text messages to Cane, telling her to leave the home and leave her son alone, the statement said.

Cane did, the statement said, but not for long.

An hour and a half after midnight, Cane allegedly returned to their residence.

That's when police say the 17-year-old woke to find Cane on top of him.

According to the statement, the boy told police he has rejected several of Cane's advances in the past and had never done anything to make Cane think that he would be interested in her.

That's not what Cane told police. The statement said Cane told investigators that she was attracted to the teen and that she thought he was attracted to her.

Cane allegedly said that when she drinks alcohol she loses her "inhibitions" and she was highly intoxicated that night.

Online records show Cane appeared in court Thursday and pleaded not guilty.

According to documents filed by prosecutors, this case was re-filed after originally being filed in 2017.

Cane's attorney Stuart Huffman told the News-Leader the case was originally dismissed after state's witnesses did not appear at a preliminary hearing.
