Montgomery Miller became trapped in his vehicle after it drove off Interstate 77, crossed Haut Road SW and struck an embankment in Pike Township, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
PIKE TWP. A Bolivar man was killed Friday evening when the truck he was driving drove off Interstate 77 and hit an embankment.
Sgt. Johnnie H. Maier with the Canton post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said Montgomery Miller, 46, was driving south on Interstate 77 just after 5 p.m. Friday when his 2011 GMC truck went off the left side of the highway and into the median. The vehicle then went down the side of Interstate 77, crossed over Haut Road SW and struck an embankment.
Maier said Miller, who was wearing his seatbelt, had to be extracted from the vehicle. He was taken to Aultman Hospital where he later died.
Maier said it doesn’t appear that the icy weather was a factor as the vehicle took a straight line of travel off the road. Alcohol also doesn’t appear to be a factor, he said.
