The former San Fransisco mayor joined a host of lawmakers, media figures and world leaders slamming Trump for the vulgar remarks, which he reportedly made during a meeting with bipartisan lawmakers on immigration this week.
Trump denied Friday saying “anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country” in the meeting.

Other California Democrats have called on Trump to leave office following the remarks.

“If the president can’t control himself and lead this country with the authority, dignity and leadership it requires, then he shouldn’t be the president," she said.

Newsom, who is running in the 2018 California governor’s race, has been floated as a possible Democratic candidate for president in 2020.
