Pipestone man arrested for drug possession
WatersWORTHINGTON — A Pipestone man was arrested Jan. 3 after 60.4 grams of marijuana were allegedly discovered in his vehicle.
Tyson Waters, 20, is facing felony fifth-degree possession of not a small amount and a petty misdemeanor count of no seat belt charges in Nobles County District Court.
The charges stem from a Jan. 3 traffic stop in which Waters was stopped by a Minnesota state patrolman for allegedly speeding and a seat belt violation along Interstate 90.
According to the criminal complaint, upon approaching the vehicle, the patrolman observed what he believed to be marijuana stems and “shake” — cannabis flower remains — on the car’s floor.
Waters initially denied there was any illegal substance in his vehicle, but later admitted there was marijuana in the center console and allowed the patrolman to search.
The patrolman seized approximately 60.4 grams of marijuana, and Waters was transported to the Nobles County Jail.
Waters was released on his own recognizance. His initial appearance in Nobles County District Court is scheduled for Jan. 16.
