‘Students must make Swami Vivekananda a role model’

There is no doubt India will achieve more in all fields if students make Swami Vivekananda their role model, Pralhad Joshi, MP, said.

He was inaugurating a programme on National Youth Day and the commencement of the Youth Week by the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the Karnatak College here on Friday.

Ramakrishna-Vivekananda ashram president Swami Vijayananda Saraswati said Swami Vivekananda always thought about the good of the entire world, staying true to the Vedanta philosophy, of which he was an ardent proponent. Deputy Commissioner S.B. Bommanahalli suggested that students read Swami Vivekananda’s works and imbibe his ideals. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Maigur inaugurated a programme at the ashram and later flagged off a procession of the portraits of Swami Vivekananda.

Nearly 2,000 people participated in the procession that was culminated at the Swami Vivekananda Circle.
