Afghanistan defeats Pakistan in ICC U-19s World Cup opener

    The Afghanistan Under-19s national cricket team defeated Pakistan in their opening match in ICC Under-19s Cricket World Cup.

    Organized in Whangarei in New Zealand, the Pakistan U-19s won the toss and elected to bat first but they could not put up a satisfactory target for the Afghan team.

    Pakistan lost all its wickets by scoring only 188 runs from 47.4 overs by opting to bat first.

    On the bowling side, Azmatullah Omarzia and Qais Ahmad took three wickets each while Naveen-ul-Haq managed to take two wickets to restrict the Pakistani batsmen to 188 runs.

    Nasir Khan and Nasir Wahdat also managed to take one wicket each on the bowling side.

    On the batting side, Rahmanullah Gurbaz managed to score 31 runs, Ibrahim Zadran 3 runs, Ikram Ali Khil 46 runs, Bahir Shah 1 run, Nisar Wahdat 19 runs, and Darwish Rasooli remained not out after scoring 76 runs together with Azmatullah Omarzai who scored 12 runs.

    The Afghan team managed to score 194 runs by losing 5 wickets from 47.3 overs and with this managed to secure their first victory in ICC Under-19s Cricket World Cup.
