Gunga police foil dacoity, nab dacoits

A dacoity bid was foiled by Gunga police when four dacoits were nabbed near Kaneri river culvert on Thursday, while they were planning to loot a petrol pump. The police have recovered a country-made pistol, two sharp-edge weapons, some stolen goods and a SUV.

Acting on a tip off regarding miscreants planning a dacoity and moving in a SUV, they were detained. The SUV was searched and four plastic bags were found inside the car below the seats  carrying mobile phones and other goods.

Initially the accused tried to mislead but later confessed seven burglaries and thefts in different parts of the state.

The nabbed dacoits were identified as Sitaram Panthi (25) of Vidisha, Mausam Ali (28), Manish Rajak (21) and Sonu Bairagi(19) of Sagar.

One of the accused Harish Rajak managed to escape the spot and search has been started to nab the accused.

In the initial investigation when the accused were questioned they confirmed that they were planning of dacoity. The police have registered a case under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC and Section 25/27 of Arms Act.

The accused revealed targeting a mobile shop at Ashok Nagar 3-4 days ago, stealing 5 quintals of wheat from Sagar, stealing goods from electrical goods and repair shop at Obedullahganj, Copper wire from Biaora, Ashok Nagar, Guna and Chhindwara.

Police found that the four are habitual criminals and are involved in serious crimes. The vehicle is used to carry stolen goods and dispose them and continue to commit crimes in the same manner.
