The theme for Diversity Week is “A Day Off for a Week On."
Monroe County Community College will celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to racial justice and equality with Diversity Week events.
The theme for Diversity Week is “A Day Off for a Week On,” and it is sponsored by the MCCC Diversity Committee. All events are free and open to the public and will take place at MCCC’s main campus, 1555 S. Raisinville Rd.
The schedule is:
■ Tuesday: Jeanette Henagan, president of the NAACP Lenawee County Chapter, will speak from 2 to 3 p. m. in Room 173a of the Warrick Student Services/ Administration Building.
■ Wednesday: “ We Shall Overcome” March Simulation and Diversity and Service Fair. Those interested in marching are invited to assemble for the march at 11: 15 a. m. in front of the Career Technology Center. The march will proceed to the admin-istration building, where the Diversity and Service Fair will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Admissions area hallway. The fair will celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to racial justice and equality. Information on various dimensions of diversity will be showcased. Several MCCC student clubs will be represented. Desserts will also be served.
■ Thursday: The film “ Get in the Way: The Journey of John Lewis” will be screened from 2 to 3 p. m. in the Little Theater, which is located in the Campbell Learning Resources Center. In the film, Lewis, a masterful storyteller, relates the tale of his role in an epic chapter in U. S. history. Lewis is a civil rights hero, congressional leader and champion of human rights whose unwavering fight for justice spans the past 50 years.
■ Friday: The Grade “A” Café at MCCC will serve a trio of international dishes.
The college will be closed on Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
