Icy road Friday: 1 hurt in Hancock County crash


FINDLAY — One person was hurt in a one-vehicle crash in Hancock County Friday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office received the call at 1:19 p.m. of the crash that occurred on state Route 568 near Township Road 175.

According to a news release, Joseph Thiel, 26, of Upper Sandusky, was westbound on state Route 568 when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy snow-covered roadway.

His car went off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and then an AEP power pole before stopping.

He was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital by Hanco EMS.
