A local man is being held on $1,000 bond after his arrest for allegedly shouting obscenities at a local restaurant.
Michael H Hodgin, 35 was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and disturbing the peace as a result of an incident alleged to have occurred on January 9.
According to the case’s probable cause affidavit, on that day police were alerted around 5:56 p.m. to a restaurant bar on Frank Phillips downtown.
The report said that there was a male subject, Hodgin, there that was “being disorderly and refusing to leave. Arriving officers were told that Hodgin was at the bar “talking loudly about masturbation and using profanity.” Employees reportedly asked him to leave but he refused. When police told him he needed to leave the establishment, Hodgin reportedly “became immediately defensive and argumentative.” Police say he then “began talking loudly and yelled “masturbation.”
After two other patrons said they were willing to file a complaint for disturbing the peace, Hodgin was arrested.
Authorities contend that he started yelling “no” and calling the arresting officer an “armed gang member” and additionally that the officer was “violating his civil rights.”
A search of Hodgin’s person reportedly turned up a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and several used syringes.
His next court appearance will be January 29 for purposes of status.
