COLEMAN — The Early Longhorns’ District 6-3A basketball campaign began with a 65-52 victory at Coleman Friday night.

Devyn Burns led Early (9-14, 1-0) with 14 points followed by Ty Schafer with 12, John Griffin with nine, Brent Grooms with eight, Rowdy Elkins with seven, Josh Baucom with five, Colton Piri with four, Taylor Hurt with three, Darshan Bhatka with two and Timmy Smithson with one point.

Early ventures to Dublin Tuesday night.

 

Lady Dragons 49, Dublin 23

 

BANGS — The Bangs Dragons improved to 2-1 in District 6-3A girls basketball action with a 49-23 triumph over the Dublin Lady Lions Friday night.

Bangs (8-17, 2-1) jumped out to a quick 17-5 lead over Dublin (3-11, 0-3) after one quarter, which grew to 40-15 by the start of the fourth period.

Kyra Smith and Trenedi Deal led the charge with 13 points apiece from the Lady Dragons, while Taylor Malett added six points.

Bangs will host Brady Tuesday night as district action continues.

 

Coleman 54, Lady Horns 39

 

COLEMAN — The Early Lady Horns slipped to 1-2 in District 6-3A basketball competition with a 54-39 loss over the Coleman Bluekatts Friday night.

Early (11-15, 2-1) trailed Coleman (2-1 in district) by a 13-3 count after one quarter and closed to within 22-19 by halftime.

The Lady Horns grabbed the lead briefly in the third period, but foul trouble plagued Early and sparked the Coleman comeback.

Early will visit district foe Dublin Tuesday night.
