Legendary College Football Announcer Keith Jackson Dies at 89

Keith Jackson, the voice of college football died late Friday night.

The LA Times called Jackson the folksy voice of college football.

His last broadcast was in 2006 yet he called the biggest events in college football for half a century making him one the most popular play-by-play personalities in the business.

His colorful expressions -- "Whoa, Nellie," and "Big Uglies," among the many -- became part of the college football lexicon.

He was credited with nicknaming the Rose Bowl "The Granddaddy of Them All" and Michigan's stadium "The Big House." Countless other sports personalities on social media that knew and worked with Jackson throughout his career called him the greatest of all time.

He was 89 years old.
