Two PetSmart employees were taken to a hospital early Saturday morning after they were beaten during an armed robbery inside the store.

The robbers wore masks and brandished guns, said Glendale Police Department Lt. Roy Martin. They remain at-large, he said.

Police were called at 5:05 a.m. to respond to a burglary in process, Martin said.

The two employees — a woman and a man — were already at work preparing to open the store later in the morning, Martin said. Their conditions were unknown.

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Martin said.
