Local development company Miller Commerce, Reliance Health Care, and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce are holding a ribbon cutting at Birch Pointe Health and Rehabilitation on Jan. 16. The event will take place at 3705 S. Jefferson Ave., directly across from Kickapoo High School.

Miller Commerce has partnered with Reliance Health Care, Inc., of Conway, Arkansas, to bring the 68,000-square-foot, 120-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center to the community.

Birch Pointe is a resort-style facility, combining natural elements with a modern feel, and offers short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and dementia care. The facility will provide services to residents in three different communities that will each feature their own private dining areas, day spaces and courtyards. Amenities will include a bistro, wireless internet, a salon, an on-site chef, and more.

“The layout of Birch Pointe is designed to promote a place where residents will feel like part of a small community in which their health care needs are top priority,” said Wes Holland, director of development for Birch Pointe Health and Rehabilitation, in a news release.

Construction started on Birch Pointe in August 2016 and was completed in December. Bates and Associates was the principal architect, Larry Snyder and Company was the general contractor, Miller Commerce developed the property, and Reliance Health Care will operate it.
