The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) along with the Haryana Police conducted an hour-long mock drill to test their preparedness against possible terror attacks ahead of the Republic Day at the MG Road metro station on Friday.
The CISF’s bomb disposal and dog squad were also present for the drill and they were assisted by the Haryana police, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials were also present on the spot.
The drill started at 11.35 am when three mock terrorists enter the Metro station and start firing on the citizens. They warn the security personnel to relive their aids otherwise they will kill the people and the responsibility will be fixed on the Government.
Frequent announcements about the mock drill were being made to prevent panic among the public.
“Soon after the terror attack, the CISF troops took their possession and around 40 minutes operations they killed two terrorists who were hiding in one of the station room while one another terrorist had been handed over to the local police,” a senior CISF officer said. During the investigation from the alive terrorist, the CISF officials came to know that the group belonged to Andra Pradesh terror group. The personnel has also recovered a huge amount of weapons and live cartridges and eatable foods from their possession.
Gurugram police officials were designated outside the metro station to ensure traffic flow remains unhampered from the drill while the DMRC officials regulated passenger queues to ensure there is no disruption to Metro services.
“Around 70 personnel were involved during the drill from the CISF, Haryana Police, DMRC officials and IB. The drill was conducted ahead of the Republic Day. So we have given strict instructions to the CISF personnel,” he said.
The officer further said the drill is a regular exercise to check preparedness against terror attacks, improve coordination among multiple agencies and reduce the response time.
