SHREWSBURY — A pedestrian died Thursday night from injuries he suffered after being struck by a van on Route 20.
Police said Cory W. Bonin, 40, of Worcester, was struck around 7:40 by a 2005 Ford Econoline van heading east in the right-hand lane near Pineland Avenue.
He was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center — University Campus, Worcester, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the driver of the van, whom they did not identify, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
Route 20 was partially closed for more than three hours while the Crash Reconstruction Team investigated. Sgt. Michael O'Connor and Officer Ryan Chartrand are investigating, along with the office of District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
No charges have been filed, and the accident remains under investigation, police said.
Mr. Bonin was a delivery driver for Golden Pizza; a woman who answered the phone at the Grafton Street location Friday said he was out on a delivery when he was struck. Another person at the restaurant, who declined to give his name, said he was a "good kid," and said staff at the restaurant were still in shock.
