- Mahesh Bhatt
The maverick filmmaker is always in news for his quirky statements and bold approach to cinema .In 2014 The Mumbai Police foiled an underworld plan to harm filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt with the arrest of 13 persons belonging to a gang operated by an overseas kingpin. On November 15, 2014, police rounded up seven people from Mumbai and seized three pistols and 15 bullets from them. Their interrogation revealed that they had been directed by an overseas gangster to attack Bhatt and leave no chance of his escape.
- Shahrukh Khan
Shahrukh khan himself has admitted to have received threats from underworld. The Mumbai police had confirmed that security for Shah Rukh Khan was beefed up following threats from the underworld around the release of Happy New Year. King Khan has also admitted that he was approached by producer Nazim Rizvi for a film and was told that 'Bhai' Chota Shakeel wanted him to do so. SRK added that he used to receive threatening calls on his mobile from Abu Salem forcing him to work in his movie.

Boman Irani co starred with Shahrukh Khan in Happy NewYear (2014). He also received threatening calls from underworld don Ravi Pujari. After which his security was beefed up.
- Akshay Kumar
Padman Akshay Kumar received series of threatening calls for... hold your breath .....sacking his domestic help . The caller identified himself as gangster Ravi Pujari. The calls persisted for almost two years but police suspects them to be hoax calls.
- Govinda
Actor-cum-ex politician Govinda was receiving life-threatening calls from the underworld in 2006. The actor was receiving threats along with his family and the actor had informed the police and union Home Ministry about the same. Though he did not reveal the identity of the caller, the threats were taken seriously and the actor was provided with extra security.
- Sonu Nigam
Singer-actor Sonu Nigam alleged that Chhota Shakeel, close aide of Dawood Ibrahim was trying to force him to cancel a contract with an event management company and sign up with another firm chosen by the don.
- Arijit Singh
It is believed that underworld don Ravi Pujari, has threatened Arijit Singh and asked him to pay Rs 5 crore. The underworld don has also asked the singer to perform at two stage shows for him free of cost.Though Arijit has filed a written complaint in Mumbai's Oshiwara Police station. the singer has reportedly refused to file an FIR against Ravi Pujari. He has also denied police protection.

Filmaker Rajiv Rai who had blockbusters like Tridev and Mohra to his credit , had to flee the country after an attempt was made on his life by the underworld in 1997. After staying in Switzerland and America it is revealed that Rajiv and his family are in Mumbai and they have relocated back to their homeland for quite some time.
These are not the only celebrities who received threats from the underworld. Film-makers Karan Johar, Sonu Sood , producer Karim Morani, Boney Kapoor and Farhan Aktar too have received threats from the dreaded underworld.
