The District Magistrate Haridwar Deepak Rawat has assured the licensed social organisations based in the district which are willing to establish community radio stations of full help from the district administration.
He also said that the administration would help them in extending their network in the distant parts of the State. “The disaster management department would provide every kind of assistance and facilities to such organisations to make the community radio service more effective and also to enhance the quality of the programmes run by them,” he said.
DM said that as per the policy, the disaster management department would give financial support to the interested organisations. “What they would have to do is to file an application with the required documents.
The pre-requisite for the applicant for the establishment of community radio is that it has minimum three years’ experience in the field at the local level.
These Government- aided community radio stations are also be required to have insurance against disaster.
Another undertaking that they must take is that these radio stations must assist the disaster management centres in disseminating information down the line to the common man,” DM said.
