REDMOND — Crater rolled up four lopsided dual-meet victories in its round-robin pool Friday on the first day of the Oregon Classic wrestling tournament.
Competing in the Class 5A bracket, the Comets — who placed third in the tournament last year — defeated Pendleton (59-12), Hermiston (38-0), Hillsboro (72-6) and Redmond (55-18).
Also in 5A, Eagle Point went 1-3, beating Springfield 69-12 but losing to Mt. View (60-21), Sandy (60-24) and Molalla (43-36).
North Medford posted a 3-1 record in its 6A pool. The Black Tornado walloped Lincoln, 82-0, then beat Barlow (53-30) and Sherwood (41-27). It lost to Sprague, 37-27.
South Medford was 1-3 in 6A, the win coming over Centennial, 38-36. It’s losses were to West Linn (47-30), McMinnville (41-30) and David Douglas (52-30).
Grants Pass went 2-2 in 6A, downing McNary (50-25) and Hidden Valley (62-14), but falling to Oregon City (45-27) and Newberg (60-13).
The tournament concludes today.
