President Duterte on Thursday vowed to continue going after Islamic State (IS) sympathizers, and said he would need money to combat the terror group.

Speaking at an event of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Mr. Duterte surmised that Islamic State, whose sympathizers laid siege to Marawi City for five months, could wreak havoc in the world for seven more years.

“We need money because I have to sustain the campaign against the (IS), which [is] trying to gain a foothold somewhere and this will not disappear, not for the Philippines … not for Malaysia, Indonesia, not even for America and the rest of the world,” he said.

He told the gaming officials that he appreciated the revenue that gambling operations give to the government, though he himself never liked the activity.

“Personally I do not gamble. I do not even go to gambling houses … Not because I do not like you. I like all of you. Keep the money coming, no problem,” he said.
