Reading Marathon held at Central Library

A unique activity ‘Reading Marathon’ was organised at Maulana Azad Central Library here on Friday. Organised by the Civil Services Foundation Course, the event was conducted to increase reading habit among the youth.

Under this activity, youngsters were given the book that was recently published. The youngsters had to read the book in three hours at a speed of 100 pages in 60 minutes and they had to remember completely what  they had read. As many as 100 youngsters were  part of the marathon.

The book Madhya Pradesh General Knowledge was recently selected by MacGreen Publications for the Marathon. Two young writers of Bhopal, Snehal Tripathi and Sonali Bansal, wrote this book in English. Both of them are currently living in Delhi and regularly go to teach civil services participants in six different cities of the country.

After every 60 minutes in the reading marathon, a quiz was conducted, in which question based on the 100 pages read in that hour was questioned. In this manner, 3 quizzes were organized during the entire activity.

The student of English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad, Aditi Mishra, was the quiz master of this marathon. While the concept and combination of marathon was done by Lakshmi Sharan Mishra.

Anil Tripathi, who scored the highest score in all three rounds, became the winner of this marathon.

Himanshi Bajaj got the second position in the competition and Ramasya Ansari, the third place.

While addressing the programme, Sonali said that this is a unique opportunity, where the readers are sharing their perceptions about the book with the authors.

Talking about the book she said, “When I saw my friends struggling for a good English book for information about Madhya Pradesh, I thought why not resolve their problems do, we have collected new information for a year, researched and then wrote this book.”

“In this book you will find a lot of things about your State which you will be proud of if you are a resident of Madhya Pradesh,” added Snehal.
