“Justice should prevail,” says Venna Konda Reddy, husband of Venna Satyavati, who was killed along with her granddaughter Saanvi Venna, by an Indian software professional Raghunandan Yandamuri in the U.S., as the authorities there set the date for execution of Raghunandan for February 23.
The date for execution was set two years after a U.S. court awarded the death sentence in the case relating to the twin murder of his friend’s mother and daughter at their apartment at King of Prussia in Pennsylvania in October 2012.
Unable to reconcile with the gruesome killing of his wife and granddaughter for ransom, Mr. Konda Reddy a retired school teacher at Valicherla in Prakasam district, told The Hindu: “I may not get back my wife and granddaughter. But no reprieve should be given to the convict so that the execution of the sentence will act as a deterrence,” while referring to the possibility of the convict getting a reprieve from Pensylvania Governor Tom Wolf.
Satyavati’s son-in-law Srinivasa Reddy said the convict should not be shown any mercy. A similar view was expressed by friends and relatives of the elderly woman and her granddaughter at their native Kodumulakonda, near H.M. Padu in Prakasam district.
