S'wak police to investigate Amelsan Tahagi fake posting

MIRI: Police have started investigation into the Facebook account by the name of Amelsan Tahagi for posting a false news on child kidnapping and organ harvesting today.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the police were alerted to the fake news posting today accompanied by three photographs of the Miri murder case where a 13-year old girl was found dead in the boot of a car.

"The posting is utterly false and the police have commenced investigation against the Facebook account holder for spreading false news," he said in a statement tonight.

Dev also warned the netizens to refrain from sharing the false news as it a serious offence under the laws and presently the police are tracking down the owner of that Facebook to assist in the investigation.

"The act of making and spreading false news that instil fear is an offence under the Penal Code and Communication and Multimedia Act," he added. — Bernama
