Mollie and AJ had everyone talking during this year’s BBC competition, thanks to their saucy routines and regular appearances together away from the show.

However, the 23-year-old dancer has now dashed everyones hopes while speaking at the Cirque du Soleil OVO premiere at London’s Royal Albert Hall this week.

Despite the Strictly Come Dancing pair reportedly having been caught kissing backstage, the TV star commented: “No, we’re not an item, but we’re friends for life.”

AJ went on to tell the Metro: “I didn’t get her a Christmas present, unfortunately… it sounds really bad doesn’t it?”

The hunk had been without his “friend for life” when he attended the star-studded launch teaming a chunky black coat with jeans and a patterned scarf.

AJ is currently gearing up for the Strictly Come Dancing: The Live Tour, however Mollie will not be taking part.

Finalists Gemma Atkinson, Alexandra Burke, Joe McFadden and Debbie McGee will all be taking part as well as Susan Calman, Davood Ghadami and Jonnie Peacock.

His appearance comes just days after Mollie also spoke out about about the scrutiny on the duo over the past few months.

Chatting on Lorraine, the blonde beauty said: “There’s definitely a lot of attention when you’re on one of these shows.

"Obviously romance rumours as well as obviously everything that comes along with it, you know the scrutiny and being judged on national TV, it’s terrifying but it’s the most amazing experience.”

Mollie, who missed out on the Strictly final, continued: “You spend 12 hours a day together and you do just become so close. You have to really trust your partner.

"That would be my tip – just to get along with your partner and to just throw everything at it because it goes so quickly."

No doubt fans will sad to hear nothing romantic will happen between them, despite all suggestions of the opposite just weeks ago.
