Chris Partridge, Michigan’s linebackers/special teams coach, could be headed to Alabama.

That possibility was reported in an AL.com story on Friday but had been mentioned on multiple occasions by Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider at 247Sports. Partridge is a candidate for the last open spot on the staff, AL.com said it “has learned.” Alabama on Monday won the national championship.

Partridge was named National Recruiter of the Year by Scout in 2016 and by 247Sports last year.

He joined Jim Harbaugh’s staff after five seasons (2010-2014) as head coach at New Jersey’s Paramus Catholic High. Partridge built it into the top-ranked team in the state and No. 4 nationally by USA Today.

At Michigan, he was named the director of player personnel in recruiting in January 2015, and was then elevated to an on-field role, coaching linebackers and special teams beginning in 2016.
