Aston Villa news: Manchester United defender set to join Steve Bruce’s side
MANCHESTER UNITED starlet Axel Tuanzebe is set to join Aston Villa on loan.
The 20-year-old defender is on the fringes of Jose Mourinho’s squad and needs regular game time.
He is unlikely to arrive in time for Villa’s trip to Nottingham Forest tomorrow (5.30pm) so could make his debut against Barnsley on January 20 at Villa Park.
Villans boss Steve Bruce has limited back up in central defence for first-choice pair John Terry and James Chester.
Bruce announced at a press conference earlier today that he is closing in on a signing but refused to reveal the player in question.
“Until we’ve got them over the line, out of respect for the clubs we’re talking to I can’t really reveal it,” he said.

Bruce is restricted to loan signings due to Financial Fair Play concerns but is confident of adding quality to his squad.
“I think everybody knows and understands the situation we’re in,” he said.
“I think I’ve been pretty clear.
“With the financial situation at the club, we’re not in a position to spend millions.

“However, if we look to go down the loan route which has been really positive for us, even at the start of the season with Sam [Johnstone]. [Robert] Snodgrass in particular, we’ve done very well with the loan situation.
Tuanzebe has made just three appearances for United this season.
The Daily Mail report that he travelled with the Red Devils to Dubai for their mid-season training camp earlier this week.
