The Big Lake High School band, under the direction of Heidi Olson, presented a fabulous ensembles concert Monday evening in the high school auditorium. The variety of music made for a fun evening of performances and solos. There were many themes songs including Pirates of the Caribbean and Game of Thrones, performed by the trumpet and low brass ensembles. The percussion section was made up of three, who played for the first time together Monday evening. The piece they played was called Bernalillo. La La Land was performed by the combined concert band and wind ensembles, which incorporated pieces, Another Day of Sun, Mia and Sebastians theme, City of Stars and Audition (the Fool Who Dreams). The Jazz band put on a toe tappin performance which included one of their favorite pieces to play, Go Daddy-O. The jazz band also played L-O-V-E and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square. Perhaps the most popular piece played through out the evening was The Adams Family Theme song. The saxophone ensemble provided a very fun and interactive performance to which the audience was directed to “snap” while they played. The flute ensembles performed the classic piece, My Favorite things and the Clarinet ensemble played the Moonlight Sonata first  movement. The final performances were provided by the combined concert band and wind ensemble. They went out on a wild note playing Skyfall and Metal, with tunes from Iron Man, Rock You Like a Hurricane, The Trooper and Crazy Train.
