GUWAHATI: The
Army has ordered a probe into 'leakage' of photographs and video footages of the flag meetings between the
Indian Army and the Chinese PLA at the Line of Actual Control in
Upper Siang district in
Arunachal Pradesh to the media.
A defence source said, "The pictures and videos were taken in mobile phones. The meeting was conducted well and the leaked photos and videos is not against the Army. But, the issue is why were these leaked to the media?"
The source added that there were no civilians at the meeting between the personnel of the two armies on the border on January 6, indicating that the pictures could have been leaked by Army personnel themselves.
"It is not that that leaked photograph would give away vital information if it falls into the hands of enemies. There are some procedures to be followed while briefing the media. What has happened points to the presence of loopholes we need to plug those before anything else goes out," the source said.
