Ameren Illinois chairman and president Richard J. Mark, has been named by a publication as one of the most powerful black executives in the U.S.
Black Enterprise includes Mark among 300 black business leaders.
Under Mark's direction, Ameren has worked to develop a smart-energy policy and develop the utility's infrastructure, a utility press release noted.
"I am fortunate to work for a great company and (be) supported by talented and dedicated employees who are focused every day on meeting the needs of our residential and business customers," Mark said in a statement.
Ameren Illinois serves 43,700 square miles in central and southern Illinois and has about 1.2 million electric and more than 800,000 natural gas customers.
