Live demonstration of granite statues at Makar Sankranti Mela

For the first time in Bhopal, the shopaholics can have a close look at the live demonstration of granite statues at Makar Sankranti Mela. The artist from Bhubaneshwar Sunder will create statues of Indian mythology gods and goddesses in front of the visitors.

Notably Makar Sankranti Mela will be held in city starting from Friday at Kala Gram near Sakshi Dhaba, Badbhada Road, Bhopal. The exhibition cum sale is being organized by Centre for Research and Industrial Staff Performance (CRISP) Bhopal.

CRISP is organizing an exhibition on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti till January 21. This national level exhibition is sponsored by the Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

While talking to media persons on Thursday, Mukesh Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of CRISP informed that this exhibition has been named as ‘Makar Sankranti Mela’. Craftsman from various states like, Gujarat, Assam, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh will exhibit their products. As many as 50 craftsmen from across the country will be participating in the event.

Sharma informed that inauguration of the exhibition will be inaugurated at 6pm on Friday in the presence of Deepak Joshi, Minister of the State, Technical Education and Skill Development, Labor and School Education, Vishwas Sarang, Minister of State, Co-operation, Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation (Independent Charges), Panchayat and Rural Development, Sudesh Shandilya Maharaj and S. M. Nazeer, Assistant Director, Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

Elaborating further, SM Nazeer said that the craftsmen who have the registration with Ministry of Textiles can only be a part of such exhibitions. In Bhopal there are around 32,700 registered artisans, he added.

Besides, there will be delicious food available at the exhibition from Sarafa Bazaar, Indore. Adding to this, Sharma said that various cultural programmes will also be organized during the event.
