Georgia backup quarterback Jacon Eason announced his expected departure from the football program on Friday over social media.
The sophomore signal caller was expected to transfer following a season that saw him injured in the season opener and true freshman Jake Fromm lead the Bulldogs to the national championship game and fall just short against Alabama.
"Thank you UGA for an incredible two years," Eason tweeted. "The memories and relationships I have made will truly last a lifetime. I will miss suiting up in red and black, but Athens will always be a place I can call home."

Eason, who started for the Bulldogs all of 2016 and passed for 2,430 yards that season, suffered a knee injury in the first quarter against Appalachian State. Fromm took over for Eason in that game, and stayed under center throughout 2017.
Per NCAA transfer rules, Eason must sit out 2018 before he can play at a Football Bowl Subdivision school. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Earlier this week, the Seattle Times reported Washington is a likely destination for the Lake Stevens, Wash., native.
