Michigan dealer auctions off rights to 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon

Only 3,000 units of the single-year, 840-hp Demons will be sold in the U.S.

A Michigan dealership group auctioned off the rights to purchase a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, raising a total of $14,700 for local charities.

Bill Marsh Auto Group of Traverse City, Mich., said it would sell the White Knuckle Demon for $1 below the sticker price. Only 3,000 units of the single-year, 840-hp Demons will be sold in the U.S., along with 300 in Canada.

"I didn't come here to win," Ted Parrott, the winning bidder, said. "I'm just a huge car enthusiast. I can't believe it."

Mike Kent, marketing director at Bill Marsh, told Automotive News last summer that the auction solved an issue for the no-haggle dealership, which was upholding the integrity of one-price when the value of the car stretches beyond its sticker price.

The money raised will be split evenly among the Father Fred Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan, the TC Patriot Game and the Toys for Tots Foundation, the dealership group said.
