The January transfer window has been a record-breaker with Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal as busy as ever.

Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona in a £142m deal leaving Liverpool chasing a replacement. They want to get their hands on RB Leipzig's Naby Keita six months early but a move for Monaco's Thomas Lemar or Leicester's Riyad Mahrez looks more likely. Jose Mourinho is keen on reinforcments at Manchester United and has emerged as a serious suitor for Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic although any move for the American wonderkid would likely come in the summer. January priorities instead include a left-back - Tottenham's Danny Rose and Juventus' Alex Sandro remain top of the list.

Alexis Sanchez is edging ever closer to Manchester City, despite late interest from United, with Pep Guardiola seemingly not happy with being 15 points clear at the top while Chelsea are hunting high and low for a new striker to complement the off colour and out of sorts Alvaro Morata.

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS

There's no getting away from the big news of yesterday.

Manchester United would be willing to trump Manchester City in both fee and wages for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, and even offer Henrikh Mkhitaryan, if they get any signal that the Chilean would move to Old Trafford.

While United are not yet actively attempting to hijack the deal, as they are well aware of Sanchez’s desire to work with Pep Guardiola, they are fully prepared to jump on any opportunity or take advantage of any hiccup.

Sanchez is desperate to leave Arsenal and join up with his former manager at Barcelona, Guardiola, in this window, but City are so far offering only £20m, since they could get him on a free in the summer.

Miguel Delaney has the details of a remarkable twist.
