CHEBOYGAN- The new edition of the Communicator, a publication by Cheboygan Area Schools Board of Education, was recently sent out to give an update on things happening at the school.
Part of the Board of Education's goal is students first through quality education, stable finances and strong communications. The Communicator is one way the school board hopes to communicate with the public.
This edition was published prior to the school's conversation with its legal counsel regarding the millage rates and levies. However, there was a lot of great information regarding the school in the issue.
“We did talk about bond issues in here, we talked about the get out and vote on the Headlee Millage,” said Superintendent Troy Reehl.
More information regarding the school's operating millage will be in a future edition of the Cheboygan Daily Tribune, as Reehl wants to make sure the public knows exactly what the operating millage means for the school in addition to what is in the Communicator.
This is the second edition of the publication. It was printed by Straits Area Printing, with information compiled by the school including important school dates, website links for parents to stay informed, information regarding different programs and updates on the buildings.
“Then we have our local newspaper that stuffs it in their papers and mails it out too for us, so we're able to reach everybody in our zip code area,” said Reehl. “So it's nice.”
The latest edition came out over the Christmas Break in the Shopper's Fair, but editions of the publication can be picked up at the school as well.
The school is currently working on their next edition of the Communicator, which is scheduled to come out sometime in April.
Also at the meeting, the school board voted to accept the resignation of high school teacher Nicole Richardson with regrets.
