Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said Thursday he has not seen the details of a plan Sen. Jeff Flake said will result in a major agreement on border security and so-called Dreamers, and said it's not clear to him that any final deal has been reached.
Cornyn spoke after Flake told reporters that an agreement was reached among a handful of senators, and said the next step would be to see what the White House thinks about it. But Flake didn't offer details, and the White House and Cornyn made it clear that an agreement reached in Flake's group would be the final product.
"We welcome their contribution," Cornyn said. "It's not going to be something that's agreed to by just a handful of people."
Cornyn added that he has not seen the details of the accord Flake is talking about.
"I haven't seen it, I want to see it," Cornyn said.
Instead, a group of Senate negotiators met at the White House to continue discussion on a deal that would include border security provisions and a measure to allow those who came here illegally as children to remain and work in the country.
