The Furman University football program in South Carolina has received a second $1 million gift in a span of five months.
The Greenville News reports Furman Athletics Director Mike Buddie announced that the $1 million gift from an anonymous donor will establish the John Bagwell Offensive Coordinator Endowment. Bagwell was a standout Paladin running back who died in a car accident in 2003.
In addition to honoring Bagwell's legacy and memory, Buddie says the contribution will provide substantial financial support for the program.
The university also received a $1 million gift in August that established the Bobby Johnson Head Football Coaching Endowment. Johnson served as head coach from 1994 through 2001 and spent a total of 24 years on the coaching staff at Furman.
