B'baria ruling party men clash: 10 hurt

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between activists of district Jubo League and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at a public meeting in the town on the occasion of homecoming day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The clash took place on Wednesday in presence of local lawmaker RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, who organised the meeting.

Witnesses said Golam Mustofa Rafi, member of district Jubo League, and Masum Billah, president of Brahmanbaria BCL, locked in an altercation over a trivial matter minutes after the programme started.

At one stage, the men of Rafi and Masum threw chairs each other at the meeting venue, triggering the clash that left at least 10 people from both sides injured.

Of the injured, Masum and five others were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.

A case was filed, accusing some unidentified youths in this regard, said Officer-in-Charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station Md Nabir Hossain.
