Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is all set to release on January 25, 2018. While it has got a certificate and go ahead from the Censor Board, it has been able to leave all the controversies behind it. As you read this, Gujarat and Rajasthan governments have already decided to ban the film while Karni Sena is protesting outside the board’s office in Mumbai, to ensure that the film doesn’t see the light of day.
Amid all this, the film that releases in Sri Lanka on the same day as its Indian release, already has a high profile audience waiting for Padmaavat. As per a report in Hindustan Times, the Prime Minister of the country, Ranil Wickremesing, himself is eager to watch the magnum opus directed by Bhansali. He has in fact asked the Sri Lankan censor board for a special screening of Padmaavat as he is keen to know what the fuss around the film is all about. The Sri Lankan censor board and Bhansali have been informed about this special request, however, a date of the screening hasn’t been decided as yet. In trade circles, word is that all the controversies have only helped Padmaavat to remain in news constantly and keep the buzz alive. Despite the delay, the film is expected to do well since audience is now waiting to see why the film faced so much opposition.
