PAWTUCKET, R.I. — A Providence man is facing an assault charge in connection with a December altercation at a Pawtucket restaurant, the Pawtucket police said in a news release.

Richard Lee King, 33, of 8 Benefit St., third floor, Providence, was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony assault and disorderly conduct following a Dec. 29 incident at Royal Fried Chicken at 270 Dexter St.

Officers at the scene found a man lying on the floor of the restaurant bleeding from a cut on his face, the news release said. Witnesses told the police that the victim had been punched in the face when he spoke with a man who had been yelling and acting belligerently. Witnesses said the suspect then stomped on the victim's head before leaving the scene, the news release said.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was treated for the cut and a possible concussion, and then released, the police said.

The police posted pictures taken from a video of the incident on the department's Facebook page and located King after receiving several tips from the public, the news release said.

King was to be arraigned Thursday at District Court, Providence.
