NOIDA: The resident welfare association of the Noida sector 51 has sent a letter to the city magistrate seeking action against illegal boring work and commercial activities in the area.

"We have written to city magistrate Mahendra Singh against illegal boring work going on at plot no C-78/79 of sector 51. In fact many 60 metre plots in C block of the residential sector are being used by villagers of Hoshiyarpur for commercial activities. They have constructed many makeshift shops, unauthorised bottled water plant on plot no. C 66, using vacant plot to keep sheep-goats or even makeshift stable for horses. Most of such owners have completely encroached the drain and also constructed boundary walls," said Sanheev Kumar, RWA general secretary sector 51.

Kumar maintained the problem amounts to violation of NGT guidelines on boring wells, encroachment on public land by covering drains and unauthorised commercial activities on residential plots as well as residential lease document.

"Acting on my complaint, the city magistrate took action and sent police picket in-charge of the area to take stock of the situation after which the boring work has been stopped," said Kumar who, however, awaits permanent resolution of the issue as the commercial activity and encroachment in residential sector leads to harassment of the residents," he said.
