Police arrested joint convener of Bagha upazila unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) from the upazila health complex area in Rajshahi district on Thursday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Mokhlesur Rahman Mukul, son of Mohammad Ali of Bazu Bagha Naba Para village of the upazila.
Police said that cocktails were exploded in front of Bagha municipal during the municipal elections on December 26.
Earlier, another cocktail blast incident took place at the mass gathering of the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam at Mirganj High School ground in the city on February14, 2015.
But the BNP leaders denied his any involvement in those cocktail blast incidents, and said it was a political conspiracy.
Bagha Police Station Officer In-Charge (OC) Rezaul Hasan Reza confirmed that he was arrested on charges of involvement in two separate cases. Necessary legal action would be taken against him, the OC added.
