The trade unions and management of the Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital are having a discussion at present in an attempt to solve the ongoing strike action.

The nursing staff of the hospital has been staging the strike against the introduction of fingerprint machines to mark attendance of the staff.

The strike began on 3rd of this month.

Yesterday (Jan. 11), the nursing staff of National Hospital Colombo and Eye Hospital also staged a token staff in support of their colleagues at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.

Speaking to Hiru News, before the start of the discussion, the President of State Services United Nurses' Union, Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera said if an amicable solution is not found, the union would launch an indefinite strike.
